Walking along country estates in Voorschoten, 10 km
With its strategic location between Leiden and The Hague and good accessibility by road and water, Voorschoten formed an attractive location.
In the 17th and 18th centuries, more than twenty country estates were founded by wealthy townspeople. Today there are only six of them left. The walking route leads past five of these country houses, which lie as green oases of peace between the residential buildings. The route also passes through the Burgemeester Berkhout Park, which was built between 1936 and 1944.
You can start anywhere on the route (see PDF), e.g. at Voorschoten NS station, de Vink NS station.
