Berbice country estate

The originally 17th-century Berbice Country Estate is one of the last remaining country estates in Voorschoten.

The estate consists of a main house, porter's house, orangery, rose garden, fruit walls and a park. The fruit walls were built between 1688 and 1716 by the famous garden specialist Pieter de la Court van der Voort. The park was designed in 1803 by Zocher Sr. in the English landscape style, preserving the original formal layout.

The country estate is owned by the Foundation for the Preservation of Cultural-historical Country Estates and is managed by the foundation and its volunteers.

Would you like to visit the Buitenplaats Berbice? The outdoor area is not freely accessible, but the park is open for visitors to Guardians, members of the Het Zuid-Hollands Landschap Foundation, daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Take the Guardians pass, your hiking map, with you because you can be checked for this. We have described a circular walk for you, which you can print out before your visit.
