Franz Schubert wrote nearly 600 songs that he often reused as themes for a chamber music piece. You will hear, among others, Der Tod und das Mädchen, as a string quartet and as a song!

Franz Schubert wrote almost 600 songs and regularly reused song melodies as themes for a chamber music work. You will hear Der Tod und das Mädchen, Ständchen, but also the Notturno for piano trio, which was not written as a song but with its heavenly melody is one of the most ‘song-like’ compositions in Schubert's chamber music. Thus we discover more of the Schubert phenomenon: the song composer who put his inexhaustible melodies, as if they were songs, into all his works, whether they were sung or not!
