Tentoonstelling 'Het Verhaal van Voorschoten & Theo van Hoytema'
The artist Theo van Hoytema (1863-1917) lived in Voorschoten in his younger years. He is best known for his calendars and picture books with depictions of birds.
As an artist, Theo van Hoytema made a name for himself with his picture books and calendars. He executed all his work in lithographic printing, in which text and illustration formed a unit. As befits a true Art Nouveau artist, he also engaged in designing decorations for ceramics and furniture. Among others, he worked for the Delft earthenware factory De Porceleyne Fles and the furniture factory Van Wijngaarden in Weesp. The exhibition features many plates, picture books and calendars, in addition to a number of interesting loans from Museum Prinsenhof (Delft) and Museum Weesp. A very personal object is the sketchbook, a souvenir from Voorschoten.
