Meester van de luit en vihuela - Musica Antica op Kasteel Duivenvoorde
Pablo FitzGerald enchanted us when he filled the entire Lutheran Church with his eleven gut strings. Now we bring him solo to Duivenvoorde with the very best lute music by French and Spanish composers.
What power eleven gut strings on a wooden sound box? How could you ever fill a church building with that? Stunned, audiences in late 2023 listened to Spanish lutenist Pablo FitzGerald play solos between ensaladas by vocal ensemble Cantoría, filling the entire Lutheran Church with his seemingly small instrument. He now returns to the Netherlands with a programme filled with the French and Spanish masters of the lute and vihuela, Albert de Rippe, Adrian Le Roy, Luys de Narváez and Alonso Mudarra. In particular, the works of Narváez, collected in six books, los libros del delphín, show what an attraction this beautiful instrument had on sixteenth- and twenty-first-century man.
