Combattimento met Händel in Londen

31-10-2025 31-10-2025

Concert including the performance of Handel's famous organ concerto The Cockoo and the Nightingale, using the 1720 organ of the Dorpskerk, built by Jacobus Zeeman.

Due to his fame as a great composer, Georg Friedrich Handel overshadowed many other composers active there during his long stay in London, while these wrote numerous captivating pieces of music, not infrequently with Handel as inspiration. We therefore put these composers in the spotlight. Yet Handel also gets a prominent place with the performance of his famous organ concerto The Cockoo and the Nightingale. The Dorpskerk has a beautiful organ from 1720, built by Jacobus Zeemans. We thought it was time to let this organ sound in all its glory, together with Combattimento and organist Pieter Dirksen.
