The Arethusa Quartet is among the top string quartets in the Netherlands. Its members are internationally acclaimed musicians. They cherish a deep friendship for each other and in their concerts combine their great imagination and creativity with enchanting intensity. The programme includes Edward Grieg's only (completed) string quartet. After the interval, you will hear String Quartet op. 132 by Beethoven, the first of his ‘late string quartets’, with the impressive slow movement ‘Heiliger Dankgesang’ where the cane-deaf Beethoven expressed his gratitude after his miraculous recovery from a serious illness.
